New 35,000 s.f. multipurpose facility located alongside the Colorado River. The heart of the facility is an emergency operations center providing a central location and advanced technology for management of floods and other emergencies. Water features and exhibits on the 4.5 acre site are designed to educate the public about natural resources and the operation of the Highland Lakes and dams. The facility includes administrative offices, meeting and training rooms available for public use. The design incorporates green building elements such as a 30,000 gal rainwater cistern, native plants and trees, harvested rainwater irrigation system, bioswales, and bio-retention basins.
