Wylie Municipal Complex
The City of Wylie Municipal Complex is a campus style municipal complex which consists of City Hall, Library, and Recreation Center. The Complex is comprised of three buildings with a pedestrian breezeway between each building. The north wall of each building consists of a loadbearing Texas limestone wall. The three-story 43,500 square foot City Hall includes a 100 seat City Council Chamber, a pre-Council Chamber, administrative office areas, and departmental offices. The two-story 45,960 square foot Recreational Center includes running track at the second level, two gymnasiums, multi-purpose rooms, an aerobics and dance room, cardio/weight/fitness area, child care, and administrative offices. The single story 44,580 square foot Library facility includes a large open area for book racking systems, a teen reading area, an adult reading area, administrative areas, and checking area at the library entry.
The project was designed using LEED specifications and incorporates a number of sustainable elements including native landscaping, rainwater management, local materials, and natural lighting.
