Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum

An 180,000 sq. ft. new museum comprised of four stories of structural steel and concrete. Permanent exhibit space includes 34,000 sq. ft. with interactive audio and visual displays. The 8,000 sq. ft. main lobby serves as the main entrance and is used for receptions and special events. The fourth floor is dedicated to offices for museum staff, the museum boardroom, and mechanical rooms. The Museum Café is a 200-seat indoor/outdoor dining deck. The IMAX Theater includes 400 seats and projection equipment that can show 2-D and 3-D film formats, with 44 speakers and digital sound. The “Star of Destiny” Theater has 200 seats and features a multi-media special effects presentation about the history of Texas. The four-story Rotunda features a 40-foot diameter circular epoxy terrazzo campfire scene. The classroom space is located on the first floor. The underground parking garage is 190,000 sq. ft., two levels, cast-in-place concrete with a 145-car capacity. The exterior façade is comprised of 70,350 sq. ft. of granite, and 12,700 pieces of stone featuring glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) panels (20,000 sq. ft.), a copper mansard roof (9,100 sq. ft. of copper), a copper Rotunda dome (4,700 sq. ft. of copper), and a modified bitumen roof. The east facade includes 6 GFRC bas-relief panels depicting scenes from Texas history.
